The Guild Of Photographers – Qualified

Today I am so happy to tell you …

I have qualified with The Guild of Photographers. YAY I can now have QGNBP after my name … its a massive achievement and one that will push me to hopefully one day achieving Craftsman status.

A few weeks a go I submitted 21 images 3 images from 7 sessions. These images go to a panel to be judged, what they are looking for is …

Our ‘Qualified’ status is therefore aligned to standards of competence that reflect a level where the customer should be ‘pleased with the results’, when employing the services of a skilled tradesman (the photographer). In other words ‘Qualified’ indicates professional ‘competence’ to a level where the Guild is willing to recognise the photographer as an ambassador of the association , so those who achieve that level should be proud of doing so.

The judges have set criteria to consider. The criteria are based around the fact that photography is a combination of art and science, the skills for which can be combined into distinct groups, bearing equal weight within the judging process. Below are those groups –

1. Subject and Story Telling

2. Composition and Creativity

3. Lighting

4. Technical and Post Production excellence

There is also an over-riding arch to all of these ‘Congruence or Harmony’. In other words all the components above must work together to create ‘one’

Finally, vital within any submission is Presentation.

So this is my badge ….
